Sorry, voop, I think I was confused as to your question :)

Now that I understand, let me clarify...I value my basis in my *SFE* holdings by factoring in any gains I earn on SFE portfolio companies that go public and whose shares I purchase and receive through SFE's DSSP program. ICGE was one of those issues, and since I purchased ICGE's shares at the IPO (at the IPO price), I use my gain in the subsequent rise of the stock to recalculate my cost basis in my SFE holdings.

The rational for me here is that I expect SFE to role out several IPOs that I will participate in over the next couple of years, so each time I participate in the respective IPOs *through SFE* and then sell out for a profit, I will apply the gains towards lowering my cost basis in my SFE shares.

Mind you, voop, this is an internal scoring mechanism only. This methodology will not apply to my filings with the IRS <vbg>!
