Wow! I guess Korea isn't a "real" market. It is a shame.

Frankly, that is the first sensible analysis I have seen from Tero. Granted, it's a retread of past thoughts, applied to current circumstances, but it is objective. He still focuses too much on royalties and completely ignores chip sales. Once Ericy gets moving, there will be a lot of infra chip sales. He also thinks too linearly. Qcom will never slog it out directly in the manufacturing sphere. The key, imho, will be new ventures that Qcom will enter in the wireless world that will not be manufacturing. One must remember that Qcom sees itself as an R&D company. It may be that the handset division will be sold at some point--but there has to be a chip deal with the sale. Chips, software, OmniTracs, GlobalTracs, wirelessKnowledge and the like will have greater margins than the 20% in handsets. That can spell money "hand over fist."
