NEC Ties Up w/Novell on Internet Server Aug 31, 1999, (Comline via COMTEX) -- Through a technical tie-up with Novell, NEC (6701) has developed a dedicated server for enhanced access to the Internet. Sales will start later in the fall. This server incorporates the Internet Cacheing System created by Novell into the NEC Express 5800 Series servers. NEC has added proprietary management software, such as ESMPRO. The server stores information, such as a home page, to greatly improve PC-to-Internet access capabilities. A huge system can be configured by setting up the server in an intranet and linking several dedicated servers with routers. A system based on UNIX or Windows NT can be up and running in about 10 minutes.
