RG- From your article, which is a bit old, 12/7/98, <Still, the research firm predicts 60 percent of residential high-speed customers at the end of 2002 will use cable modems. By then, availability of high-speed data will reach 60 percent of households, The Yankee Group projects. >

For an article critical of TCI customer service and speed inconsistencies it sure ends on a positive note!

I'm not sure it was related to this article, but T/ATHM also dropped, what was it, 3com and went with Cisco due to hardware problems that were causing speed trouble in the SF area? The pressure is on and I can't believe they are going to intentionally drop the ball.

Also, your article points out that DSL is far behind cable in technology development. I posted a while ago about my friend on Long Island who tried unsuccessfully to get DSL for his company. They promised him the world then never delivered and never told him about their canceling the set-up because he was more then 18,000' from some switching point. So yes, problems abound...for all.

Good investing.
