Compaq Announces 50 Percent Options Rebate with Purchase of Compaq
Professional Workstations

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 1, 1999--Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE:CPQ - news)
today announced a special promotion offering U.S. customers cash back for options purchased with any
Compaq Professional Workstation. Customers in the U.S. buying a Compaq Professional Workstation
are eligible to receive a 50 percent rebate on all eligible workstation options with their purchase, up to a
maximum of $250 per workstation.(1)

Eligible options include processors, memory, graphics boards, hard drives, tape drives, input devices
(mice and trackballs), speaker systems, network cards, modems, uninterruptible power supplies,
removable media (such as tape cartridges) and various rack options.
