Shell Endeavours To Conclude Long-Term Contract To Purchase Sudanese Oil
Ministry of External Relations, Daily English News Bulletin, September 1

General Director of Shell Company (Sudan) Mohamed Al-Shafie said that
the International Shell Company endeavours to conclude an integrated
long-term transaction to buy Sudanese oil due to its good quality.

He said in a press statement that the first quantity of Sudanese crude,
purchased by Shell International Company, will be refined at the
company's refinery in Singapore which is one of the biggest refineries
in the world.Al-Shafie indicated that the unique and good quality of the
Sudanese oil has encouraged Shell International Company to bid for
buying it, adding that the Sudanese petroleum is safe to both the
environment and the machines.He noted that the ship carrying the first
quantity of exported Sudanese oil is due to reach Singapore within a
period of 10 to 15 days.

World Media Give Prominent Coverage For Sudanese Petroleum Exportation

World news agencies, TV channels and radio stations Monday gave
extensive coverage to the launching of the Sudanese petroleum
exportation and the departure of the first ship loaded with 600,000
barrels of crude oil from Bashair sea port bound for Singapore.The Saudi
Press Agency, reporting the news, pointed out to the fact that the oil
was purchased by Shell oil company and that it would be followed by two
shipments to each of Korea and Chili. The Saudi agency referred to the
dignitaries and officials who attended the celebrations.

The Middle East Broadcasting Centre TV channel, commenting on the departure
of the ship, said Sudan has now become member of the oil exporting countries
club and that the exportation of Sudanese oil would reflect positively on the
national economy.The United Press International (UPI) has meanwhile
quoted the Minister for Energy and Mining, Dr Awad Ahmed Al-Jaz, as
underlining that the share of the government in the exported oil stand
at 40 percent.

In the meantime, the German News Agency (DPA) said Sudanese President
Omer Al-Bashir attended the departure of the ship carrying the first
Sudanese oil consignment and that the ship was bound for Singapore.

DPA pointed out that the pipeline carrying this oil from the production
fields to the export terminal of Bashair stretches over some 1,610
kms.The Gezira TV Channel said Sudanese President Omer Al-Bashir
inaugurated the exportation of the Sudanese petroleum as a ship loaded
with 600,000 barrels of crude left Bashair port on the Red Sea to
Singapore.The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) said a number of
high level delegations from various countries took part in the
celebrations marking the exportation of the Sudanese petroleum.The BBC
said the exportation of the oil was a dream that became true.

Sudan: Minister Of Energy And Mining Meets Delegations Of Oil Companies

Khartoum , Sept. 1 (SUNA)- Minister of Energy and Mining Dr. Awad Ahmed
Al-Jaz received seperately the delegations of the Malaysian Petronas
Company and the Chinese National Petroleum Corporation(CNPC) and the
Iranian delegation, who participated in the country's celebrations of
commencing the exportation of the Sudanese petroleum.

The Deputy Chairman of the Malaysian Petronas Company Dato Mohammed
Idris congratulated the Minister over the oil export and commended the
immense achievements in the domain of oil production in Sudan.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Chairman of the Chinese CNPC company reiterated the
commitment of his company to implement the oil works according to the
schedules. He stressed the great concern China gives to the Sudanese oil
project as a model for the developed bilateral relations.

On his part , the Minister of Energy and Mining Dr. Al-Jaz thanked the
visiting delegations and conveyed the gratitude of the Sudanese people to
them for supporting the Sudan. He affirmed that Sudan investment doors will
remain open in the various domains of Energy and Mining.
