If there is a large subscriber base available, just how loyal will an MSO like Comcast remain?

Here lies the question. Does AOL (or any other ISP/content site) give the MSO's any benefit? No one can answer the question right now.

When will for example Comcast actually need to increase demand? Right now they have more demand than they can handle. ATHM has only just begun pushing its product, trying in general to be restrained so as to not push the demand level too high.

As long as the need for speed is stronger than the ability to provide it AOL is useless except for political purposes. This is why they can't come to an agreement, right now neither the MSO's or @home need AOL at all.

Someday the MSO's will have built enough wires and Excite@home will be full force into selling its product. Only then will anyone know if AOL is any use to the MSO's. If AOL is needed to increase demand then @home deserves to lose the business. That simple.
