I think having a fundo and a techie would have been great. I'm sorry it isn't going to happen. Would have made for an interesting segment. I hope they think of something like that again.

Isn't that shift in sentiment at least a partial explanation
for the internet mania? The brand names of the past
are becoming elephants, at least in the minds of some.....

Would have been a good segment, Tommy.

Tom

I stopped looking at the Dow after their last add/delete (added - HWP,JNJ,TRV (now C),WMT). It shows out of touch with they are with the current world let alone the future. I have replaced the Dow 30 with the Wired 40 for my comparisons (i.e. - RS chart).

You could go on CNBC with your techie charts and state the Dow is Dead ... Look to the Wired 40 for leadership.

Tom, This year they broker those trend lines which suggest to us that the leaders and brand names of the last 40 years are no longer the brand names and leaders of the new millenium. The New stocks are the Dell's, Sunw's, Csco's etc. When it comes to brokerage, Merrill was the brand name for the last 50 years. It is no longer the brand name for brokerage, the new millenium will see companies like E-Trade as the brand names. It would have been a good segment if I could have put this perspective on the debate it might have opened some eyes.

Right on! This is why my portfolio includes AMAT, CSCO, LU and EMC so I can play the internet, bandwidth, and storage of memory.

Check out the bull trend lines of CSCO, LU and EMC since 1994. Great bull trend lines, IMO. Fundamental were also sound. Using the NAIC stock selection guide we have a top of around $145-149 for EMC.

Any ideas?

Paul
