Efficient Networks Unveils New Digital Subscriber Line Customer Premises Equipment for Consumer and Small Business Markets

SpeedStream ADSL Modems Deliver Trouble-Free, High Speed Internet and Corporate Network Access

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 25, 1999-- Efficient Networks, Inc., (Nasdaq:EFNT - news) a leading supplier of Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) customer premises equipment (CPE), today introduced two new additions to its SpeedStream family of DSL routers and modems.

The new modems provide fast, affordable DSL networking for consumers, teleworkers and small businesses.

''Enabling plug-and-play DSL networking relies to a large degree on simple, intuitive CPE,'' said Peter Bourne, director of product marketing for Efficient Networks. ''Our latest SpeedStream modems provide an ideal CPE solution for non-technical users requiring simple installation and set up, as well as high performance and seamless compatibility.''

The new modems include the SpeedStream 3041, an ADSL internal modem for Windows PC users; and the SpeedStream 4041, a standalone ADSL Universal Serial Bus modem ideally suited for telecommuters and residential users. Both SpeedStream products incorporate Discrete Multitone (DMT) ADSL technology from Texas Instruments that provides data rates up to 8Mbps downstream over a single copper phone line.
