Exactly right. I've tried to instill the same in my children. Even if you think the police officer is an idiot, humor him. He's got a gun. You may not get convicted for "Disturbing the Police," but you can sure as hell get arrested for it.

But there's something disturbing about having to kowtow to authority figures in the wrong, that's the hallmark of a dictatorship, you know. So it's got to be held in check, or the dictators will rule. Civil disobedience may be foolish in the short run, but it's essential in the long run. I don't know if you are old enough to remember the civil rights movement - they stood up to the police, and the powers that be, and some suffered for it, some even lost their lives for it. But they were right, and they prevailed. Koresh thought he was a hero, and he stood up for what he believed. Waco has already caused significant changes in our government, and will cause more, I predict, so he didn't die in vain. I think he'd like that.
