There were also several million other shares belonging to third parties that were cancelled. Yeah. Mikey has, in fact, cancelled most of that stock about ten times so far. It hasn't really worked, unsurprisingly. The people who own it tend to sue him. While I didn't find a description of how many votes a share of preferred stock has, it does say that the insiders have control of the company, including the ability to elect the directors, through their votes of the preferred stock. I'd guess that they also have the ability to vote their preferred back into common, at the conversion rate of their choice.
