Yes, Michael, it's raining. People are FLIPPING OUT!!! Last night my neighbor and my (minz?) roofs had FROST on them.

Just a minute.

FROST!!!!

We're talking .....frost.

I admit there was clear sky for the roofs to radiate to, but it was AUGUST.

Wait ~

AUGUST!!!!

Snow level was down below 3500 feet.

Where, I don't know.

Okay, 3179. Feet. (No inches. It was even-steven.)

We've had .6 to an inch of rain in two days, and the high since we returned has not been over 60 freaking degrees.

60!

I suspect (that's like thinking you know something, but realizing you don't, right before you get into commitment trouble) that the temperature last night was just right around 40.

I turned on the freaking (again) furnace and IT WOULDN'T LIGHT!!!!

WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!!

People are getting souper, souper pissed-off now. With Y2K coming up with no sunshine in 18 months, people are going TO FLIP.

I mean it.

FLIP OUT.

I am starting now myself. I was being good, but this is the bra that broke the camel's back.

I'm scared.

Yah, it's the Siuslaw, and the Umpqua, and you can die in the moss and drips out there. It was Sometimes A Great Notion, and it has the only accurate descriptions of the rain I personally have read. And the rivers, and Coos Bay, and the Life, and the Kind Of Person It Takes To Live Here.

I, am not, any longer, that person.

It is NOT, no offense intended, A Californian, or, basically, an AnyWhere Elsian.

Remember? Lewis And Clark's men almost mutinied. That's intense. They wanted the eff out of here. No matter what they had to kill, die, or go through.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha !

WIMPS!!!!!

BWAHAAAAAAAAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!
