Hi Peter,

I agree about your point on volume although it appears that several declines are related to low volume... buying pressure has dried up.

The main things that I notice are a trading range and volatility... given your points and mine... I wonder about what externals will move the market one way or another. Certainly deflationary pressures. Certainly perceptions regarding Y2K. Diminishing $ inflow to funds. Prospects of a rate hike in October. And the usual seasonal factors.

It will be interesting over the next 8 weeks, that's for sure. And if carefully placed, there's money to be made short and long. Often the same day.

Regards,

Ed
