MNI -- A very nice response. Please know, my screed was less directed at you personally, than at the liberal bogeyman <g>. If I over-interpreted or mis-directed the rant, forgive. I never intend to scare anyone -- and highly doubt I could. That doesn't diminish the fervor with which I hold those opinions, however <g>. Of course, morals are a thread in almost any social context -- schooling included. But much of the liberal bias in education (I am a PT college prof -- I know whereof I speak!) is so damn heavy-handed. I guess it's not a question of whether morals should be part of the instruction -- it's just whose morals get taught that's the controversy. And since MY morals aren't getting taught, I get upset -- just as, perhaps 30-40 years ago in a conservative society, liberals became upset because THEIR morals weren't being taught. Since we can't agree on what morals to teach, we should leave them out altogether. As for the nonsense about whether homosexuality should be given "equal" treatment -- that's simply NOT a question for public school debate. Morals in public school should probably begin and end with fighting and cheating and, sure, name calling, too. That's about it. Save the prosyletizing about sexuality, abortion, and, yes, creationism, for some streetcorner on your own time ("you" in the loosest sense, please don't take personally).
