Initial Ericsson research...
shows they are closer to what Nortel is doing. Ericsson
is does not have the range of the other European
companies and has just a small focus on Defence (British
spelling, I think).

Ericsson did have switches and routers, both core and
edge, but their products revolve around voice primarily,
and data secondarily. They are pushing IP over voice, and
their products reflect this. I did not find any hubs or
cards.

Looking back at the previous acquisitions in this
area...GEC got Fore which makes sense because Fore
products complimented GEC's products in the inner and
outer core. Northern Telecom took Bay because they had
hardly any LAN exposure and edge core exposure for data.

Ericsson has already addressed internally or through
acquisition what Nortel faced years ago. Ericcson's
strategy did not get them the range of products that Bay
brought to Nortel, but it appears adequate. If it is not
adequate, that would be the reason for them to look at
CS.

Just my opinion and research.

Jon :)
