Re: SEG's Short Term / Long Term Revenue Streams"I also think they were trying to make a connection to the Internet frenzy. Sort of like, "We put the storage in dot-com". Robert, I agree with what you said. But key word is, "trying." I just don't understand why they didn't focus on this aspect only. That is what will drive SEG sales in the future, but it was not emphasized. This was my first look at the CEO and I have to reluctantly say, he didn't come across well. The idea was good. But execution was poor. But it's just one single investor's opinion only. And he did appear to be a Steve Jobs wanna be <g>. By the way, one aspect he did mention was storage of video and audio files. I can speak from experience on the audio portion. I have a broadband cable modem and it's an easy way to download CD quality music off the web. I was very surprised at how much disk space can be used up RAPIDLY when downloading MP3 files. It's hard to explain how well it works to those who are still on dial-up connections. But the best way to explain it is, "instanenous access to 140,000 free songs with CD quality sound." Each song is close to a 4 meg file. That's a lot of storage required both at MP3 provider servers, and user desktops. This just speaks of the original MP3 website only. The overall number of MP3 sites appear to be exploding. Short term, this may be a driver for SEG's products. Today there are about 1 million cable modem users. Next year it should be around 3 million. AT&T alone, has access to about 25 million homes. And they are spending billions upgrading them to two-way HFC networks. This does not take into account the telcos deploying DSL broadband technologies to compete. In other words, there will be a lot more users downloading music from the web in the very near future. Longer term, as Steve Luczo sort of said (he didn't really focus on "broadband"), when broadband hits the set-top box, then that is when demand for storage (video and audio) will really explode. I just hope that SEG can execute well as this future market develops. The Internet should be very good to SEG and I just wish Steve Luczo focused exclusively on this aspect only. MikeM(From Florida)
