As I said, mainly morals ... even in your case ... however we should not forget that in this case YOU instrumentalize school, for your son's education. This means, firstly, school is not an authority over-ruling you in your reality, and secondly, you take some service from this school and in return in some cases you have to (='will decide to') bow to some rules of the school - or some general rules that make schooling possible altogether.
