Remember when NO TIE, NO SERVICE was the rule?

Boy, I remember it. I went to meet a prospective employer for a job interview for lunch at the University Club in NYC. Showed up in a shirt and jacket, no tie, and they wouldn't let me in. But they did lend me a tie (ugly dirty brown thing which didn't go at ALL with what I was wearing) and let me in after I put it on. I even got offered the job, though I eventually turned it down. But it was EMBARRASSING!
