Being the gadget/software nerd that I've become, I just went across the street and bought a copy of the new Quicken 2000, which I'll probably install later tonight or tomorrow.

Two interesting inserts in the packaging -- one for MySchwab.com (which has a "powered by excite" logo on it, btw), and one for Wingspan Bank. I'm happy to see the Wingspan piece being visible to the huge installed base of Quicken users, but it's kind of strange since Intuit will not benefit from the billpay features that Wingspan offers. I guess the quick (mega) advertising bucks from Wingspan offsets Intuit's choice of some other, CKFR-friendly bank...

Caveat on the McNealy post. An friend who is a computer software CEO pointed out that McNealy Is mainly in the server business and the article promotes his interest. He also pointed out that he would not want any outsourcer to brand identify and despite his tech orientation neither he nor his businesses has plans to use EBPP. However he is certain that EBPP is "the future". This seems somewhat representative of both the Checkfree opportunity and the Checkfree dilemma.
