In Florida, the Lieutenant Governor told the press Monday that "There is every reason to believe that the Y2K phenomenon will be one of the world's great nonevents." The state reports that on January 1 banks, utilities, transportation and communications in Florida as reliably as on any other day. Lt. Gov. Frank Brogan added the caveat that Florida is not an island unto itself. <<
