Does that mean that MSFT is expecting never to go back to those prices, and for MSFT, it's "easy money" ?

Either that or that MSFT would gladly buy back their stock at those prices anyway, so why not get paid to do so? Note that they need not expect the price to drop in order to play that strategy. It just turns into a bonus for them if it does (assuming that they want to buy at that price anyway).
