Not to sound pessimistic, but keep in mind my fellow Q'Heads that today was the beginning of many a funds new fiscal Quarter, and now that the prior Quarter is over and the fund dressing is finished they are charting the waters in anticipation of going after those high fliers that they just couldn't get their hands on this past Q. Having watched Q's recent trading patterns and heavy momentum swings I am sure that many on the Street view the Q as an easy target for this type of move, and will exploit the emotions of the Market and the recent paranoia over the FED to drive some key stocks down to facilitate cheaper purchasing entry points. QCOM & MSFT come to mind.

Especially considering the fact that Q's management has all but indicated the potential for Q to exit the handset business all together, this Market call today seemed silly at best. The buyers are watching the tape closely, and when the selling volume dies down I fully expect tactical buying to get into full swing by the same houses that lowered the boom on QCOM this very day.

BTW, with only 11 business days until Sept Options expiration, todays action certainly helps out all the shorts that have had their heads handed to them on a regular basis. To many on the short side, QCOM's trading pattern has defied logic.

One of the oldest tricks in the book.
