Speaking of bonds, I'll reuse the bond joke I had on another thread...

Someday, Serbian war bonds are going to be worth more than most Internet stocks...

Seriously though, I was wondering what the Japanese are doing in the Treasury market. With the yen rising and Treasuries declining, they are getting hurt badly, given the large amount of Treasuries they own. I wonder when they are going to just give up, liquidate their bond holdings, take what's left of their money, and go home.

I was just looking at the semiannual report for one of the mutual fund's collection of bond funds (corporate, municipal, etc.). There's some big differences between the principal column and the current market value column. I didn't realize bonds had been going down so much.
