Yes, the Hebrew bible pre-existed Roman law (or most of it did). The fact that it predated it, however, does not mean that it influenced it. The history of Roman civil law, which was largely concerned with questions of property, is well known. Roman civil law was not greatly changed by the Christian emperors and is there for you to read in all its glory in the Codex of Justinian (6th cent. AD). This became the foundation of European law. Read Leviticus 25, which establishes the Jubilee system. The principles behind this are not part of the way we look at property.
