Steven, Hi!!! RE: If I was IBM management and my PC division lost $1Billion last year....I would put my ego aside and toss it. After all a win/win is better than more embarrassing losses. DELL is just too efficient in this space...also too far ahead in the race to effectively compete .... I'd give it up and concentrate on my strengths, servicing, mainframes, new product development. "IBM certainly could learn something from DELL about service" (IBM employee) :o) Now, what really has been firing me up is: What market share DELL would "control" if IBM decides to do a walk don't run deal? ...Over let's say 4-5 years..Steve you know my "love" of math..Yet, let's just think of adding the two...Plus the growth rates of DELL and IBM over this period of time....But, more importantly what would become DELL's "new" rate of stealing more more more market share?? THIS IS WHAT REALLLLLY HAS ME PUMPED!! Let's face it ...CPQ has been mortally wounded...Their credibility in the Enterprise Market is very much in doubt...cutting their work force when the industry is booming?? Hey, DELL will conquer the world a lot more rapidly than even the most optimistic DELLHEAD could imagine..From what I learned at Chelsea Pier in June...These coporate executives were not happy with CPQ and their service...They wanted DELL but DELL couldn't provide enough service reps to handle the entire contract...Yet, they admitted that DELL WAS THEIR PREFERRED REP...IBM not being able to compete since they are now out of the PC's business ...Well, Steve I can't add this high...DELL literally could be 50% of the world wide market in five years or less...Hey, I know how fabulous this sounds..I've thought about it for many months..yet, I can't think that DELL would be off a lease and running wild.. And, forget the price of the stock...Anyone that hears of this deal coming should BUY ALL THE DELL THEY CAN...It's a no brainer... Best, Kemble
