My understanding is that the "y2k compliant" STARS system is not yet installed anywhere yet.

Anyone want to correct me on this?

Today the government talked about how bad a job they were doing with the air traffic control system .

Runner,

I did not see the see the ABC segment on Y2K. I do know that the FAA has been having problems upgrading their systems. They have attempted to install their latest system (STARS) a couple of time and had to "back" it out because of performance reasons.

The STARS has been through Y2K IV & V, BUT has not been installed at any site.

Of course, if other disruptions occur along the supply and transportation chain then they won't need the new system :-(
