mark silvers, I'm glad that you can understand my point of view. Concerning the issue of guns, I am aware that laws vary from state to state. In Florida, where I live, people are allowed to own guns and have concealed firearms permits. I am not in favor of the weapons of war that are sold at gun shows. But I do feel that there can be responsible gun ownership. My husband and I both have concealed weapons permits. We both took the required course, and had no reason to object to the FBI check or being fingerprinted. You may be interested in a little background to understand our situation. My husband is from New York, where the criminals can get all the weapons they want, but the average citizen who is minding his own business and just trying to make a living has no defense. My husband is a car dealer, and there have been stories of dealers who went on a test drive, only to be tied up, shot and killed in the process. So he really needs to protect himself and his business, and felt that I should have the same qualifications, since guns are in our household. I was born in the Pacific Northwest, where my father and uncles hunted for food. And this was the only use they had for guns. So I'm not as uncomfortable around them as others may be. Of course this was in a different place and time. I do not have children at home anymore, otherwise we would have to work out some other plan. I do believe there is a place for responsible gun ownership. The key word being "Responsible" We are not "Gung ho" by any means, merely responsible citizens prepared to protect ourselves. BTW I like Chaka Kahn too. Only wish I could sing like her. C Kahn
