Jon Koplik: I hope so! She can eat a whole bunch of bear tomorrow.

For sure the ingrate (spy, not Rose)was eating better than some in Russia. Better than most in n. korea.

Thanks for the laugh.

Hope Rose ate something better than "broth, oatmeal, and bread" while in her tent on a mountain.

I ate some of Spud_Farmer's famous taters! Yum! The great thing is that when we were tired of eating them, we could use them to pound the tent stakes in. <g>

(Hey, there were times I would have been glad to live on "broth, oatmeal, and bread" if I'd had that guy's GPS equipment with me! You can get a mite confused up there when you forget to stay on the trail!)

In any case, thanks for the nice welcome back, folks. After plowing through a zillion messages here, I still say +5 and change by the close tomorrow.

PS: The "keepitsimple"/"gc" shorts sound like Yahoo refugees more than SI regulars. If they aren't adding substantively to the discussion, I agree with Jill that it's best to completely ignore them. Lurkers quickly know the difference - no need to fear they'll be panicked by one loony (unless he works for Everen...just kidding).
