October is actually very warm here. I had my sweet baby girl on October 29th, and it was 93 degrees while I was in labor. Unfortunately, air conditioning is extremely rare in San Francisco, so I suffered with just a small fan to keep me comfortable.

On the other hand, when it is not warm here it is very cold, and some of our winter storms snap the trees and close the roadways.

I am not exactly making hay on a swing and typing. In fact, I am drinking a Sapporo beer that has been sitting in the refrigerator for months, and thinking about toasting a frozen waffle to accompany it. I am usually a temperate soul, but our family went to an Irish bar/restaurant for fish and chips tonight, and ran into people in the expatriate Irish community we had not seen in about eighteen years. It is the first time my daughter has seen exactly how cute the young Irish guys are, and what excessive drinkers and smokers they are, as well. In any event, having downed three pints of Carlsberg (they were out of Harp Lager), I came home and blasted the place with old U2 music, like they had in the bar.

Now, of course, I am starting to get sleepy and a headache all at the same time, and have to get up for work in the morning, so I guess I had better have the waffle in bed, with some aspirin or something to stop a potential hangover in its tracks.
