Why would they suddenly want to offer a choice? Without PC-133 would they offer a choice of RDRAM or PC-100? PC-133 isn't going to be that much better than PC-100.

Actually, with the Memory Translation Hub (or whatever MTH stands for) they can offer a choice of SDRAM or RDRAM in a single system, although it sounds as if the MTH will not provide very good SDRAM performance. Since the little bit of evidence we have so far (the Dell pages, the Compaq pages, and the Intel/Rambus "story") indicate that none of them were planning to offer the choice with PC-100, I doubt that PC-133 will change that. But there's no way to know now -- we'll have to wait and see if the MTH is put into many systems.

I think they point you're trying to make is that there may not be enough RDRAM to go around. I think that's a valid point, but it doesn't have anything to do with PC-100 or PC-133 -- I think it's simply a function of yields, capital investment, et cetera.

Personally, I believe PC-133 will simply replace PC-100 in any systems that were going to use SDRAM anyway.
