Dan,

Tell me which of two otherwise identical computers you'd buy, one with 128 meg of Rambus, or one with 256 meg of DDR?

The implication is that RDRAM will cost twice what DDR costs, and I don't buy that premise for a second. DDR will require infrastructure changes and capital equipment outlays just as Rambus has. And they're late in getting started, so RDRAM will be coming down the curve just as DDR is starting at the top of the curve.

And when DDR starts getting a bad rap because of incompatibilities between vendor DDR modules and the motherboards, the same way that the original 100Mhz SDRAM did before Intel came along and forced the industry to implement a standard that worked, it won't matter what the cost difference is.
