My response was made in all sincerity, MH. Gorillas can stumble, but if they are in a strong Tornado, the market won't punish them severely. CDMA adoption rate is the metric indicating the strength of Q's Tornado, and is much more significant than a temporary parts shortages, if one even exists. I am led to believe that saw filters may be a constraining component.

As far as the handset business is concerned, this has been a point of debate for several months. The decision makers have to be Dr. Jacobs and his management team; I don't think we have enough data to understand their considerations. Fortunately, they have a record of making the right moves on a timely basis.

MH- That's not it. This is it:

1) Have cdma become the world standard by a) perfectng and patenting the technology that produces the highest quality and most cost effective infrastructure (including a cut for the Qualcomm), and b) the highest data rates. This creates a huge world market from which the best players can feast.

2) make the infrastructure so cost effective that wireless minutes at 3 cents create such a demand that it can support the infrastructure build with good profit margins for companines like PCS and T.

3) Produce the best chips for infrastructure and phones/handheld pcs. These are High margin items.

4) make money on selling Qualcomm phones/handheld pcs.

In other words, create a wireless voice and data war, sell the bullets, and get a cut of all the armament.

That's the deal.
