<<Why is it that so many people attack the best run company?>>

Two words - Ethical Investing! I have no problems with ABX making money, but why are they so different from the others? IMHO is their apparent cosy relationship with the manipulative banks and the appointment of directors/officers of questionable qualifications and or integrity. In an ethical company, integrity and competence are two things that I look for.

The gold mining community cannot get together (as per Ken Benes) because of fragmentation (due to globalization-and the banks know this) and because companies like ABX are in the camp that are working against the average producer.

Anyway, I don't despise ABX as a mining company; just the way it does the non-mining (mostly political) stuff. Getting back to the POG, I wonder if the start of the money laundering investigations would bring the pressure to bear on some of the other banks? Meaning, the tightening of credit, viv a vis margin calls. And if you have losses in your gold loans, it feeds on itself? I'm concerned.
