I have never seen anyone ejected, or even talked to, for breast feeding, and, of course, I have never seen an adult do anything worse than eat with his mouth open in a restaurant, so I do not know what might happen were he to put his face in the plate....

If you (or anyone else here) are interested in an objective look at the Waco situation, this site seems to be as neutral and fair as anything I have seen. Discusses the origins of the sect (started in 1942 as an offshoot of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, so it was not a recent group. David Koresh, originally Vernon Howell, joined the sect as a handyman in 1981 at age 22, but didn't become the leader until 1987. When he took over he found an illegal drug laboratory on the premises which he removed.

The site has interesting insights into the standoff. Among them: the charges of child abuse were apparently unfounded; child protective services had investigated several times and found no problems, and the reports of sexual and physical abuse which the FBI relied on (and weighed heavily in Reno's decision to approve the assault) were discredited and found to be based on false recovered memories.

Also, Koresh had agreed to turn himself over to the FBI if he was allowed first to write a book on his religious beliefs. He had finished part of the book at the time of the attack, and estimates are that he would have needed another three weeks to finish it.

The site is, IMO, well worth a few minutes reading to give a background into the tragedy. There are important lessons to be learned on both sides.

There are several academic books recommended by the site; I am interested enough in this to get them from the library for reading.
