OK, thread - peel open your wallets and read this carefully!

MSDW Tech Day
September 2, 1999

INTC's RMBS update was in line with our expectations, but DELL's bullishness was surprisingly strong. DELL believes RMBS will represent 50% of its DRAM purchases by C2H00. We are confident RMBS DRAMs will become the defacto PC memory standard during the next 3-5 years. The 9/27 launch of RMBS PCs and DELL's ramp should be a catalyst for the stock in C2H99.

Dell presented their view of RMBS DRAMs. Dell believes RMBS is critical with higher performance processors and high bandwidth software applications. Dell expects its corporate customers to demand RMBS when they adopt Windows 2000. Dell's analysis suggests RMBS provides better bandwidth and system performance within a networked environment.

BTW, John, I admire your decisiveness and conviction. Hope you'll get rewarded handsomely.

Thread - more from MSDW

Intel provided a memory update. As expected, INTC's revised memory roadmap is more consistent, although more aggressive than our assumptions. We belive RMBS DRAMs will account for 75% of the PC market in 2003. We discussed this issue in a RMBS 7/20 report

INTC will support PC133 in desktop PCs in C1H00, which does not comptete with RMBS. INTC suggested PC133 would not add meaningful performance over the PC100. INTC also stated that it will not support PC133 in notebook PCs because of power consumption issues.

** I guess Rambus DRAM for PCs are on the horizon !!
