There was drought here in 1988, too. We moved here in August, 1988, and it was the first time I had ever been somewhere dry. I couldn't sleep at night, my nose was so dry. I used to wake up and rub water inside my nostrils so I could breath. Then I learned to rub a light film of vaseline. I had to do the vaseline trick this summer, too. I was just made for a wetter climate.
