*I phoned G*/LOR investor relations today and asked if the 9/9-9/10 meeting in Palo Alto would be open to shareholders. The woman said it was open only to institutional folks and analysts. I then asked if G* would host a day in Palo Alto for shareholders at some point to show off the facilities and make presentations. She said the annual shareholders meeting in NY next year would be it.

It is a little frustrating. I would love to hear what potentially material info G* management is telling Wall St. in a group meeting setting. I would think G*/LOR would want to encourage interested shareholders to learn their compelling strategy/story in order to spread the word.

Any portfolio managers, analysts or shorts out there who can get me into the meeting? I'll be discrete/invisible while there.

Funny how G* received an upgrade about 1 hour after I noted this fact on the thread. Given the decline from $30ish to $23.25, it seemed like a natural. I did very well trading G* today. And, have you noticed how prominent Musey has been in the media since G* received $500M in financing from his BofA employer? Not to be cynical... :-) djane

Macro level musings (or why I keep G* in my long-term, nontrading part of my portfolio). At $25, G* is worth about $6B (or much less than almost all of the Internuts which may never earn a profit). G* has the potential to generate billions and billions of revenues and earnings in the next 3-5 years, very high gross/net margins, very high barriers to entry, very long lead times to enter the market, few (no?) competitors, difficult sophisticated technology (CDMA/satellites) to master, worldwide distribution system, sterling investors/partners (largest wireless service providers worldwide), etc. Compare that with any Internut play with millions of web site competitors worldwide and venture capital flooding in virtually guaranteeing a lack of profits for all in the future. I continue to trade the Internuts but I keep socking away more G* for the long-term. djane
