Yes, if for no other reason than it signals the switch (in networking gear) from a system that is primarily ASIC/FPGA based (rip open your average Cisco, 3COM, Bay, or Cabletron box), to one that is based more on standard products. It is, however, a big hill to climb as it means that the box makers of the world will have to migrate all their software (at Cisco the IOS is the holy grail) to the new StrongARM platform, but StrongARM is a very viable embedded CPU. Look at how good ARMHY is doing. I would bet on Intel being successful in the long term.
