"We will have Web-based Office productivity services. Full stop, yes," Ballmer said, in answer to a question on Microsoft's intentions in the hosting arena. But Ballmer declined to provide a timetable for providing these services.

So Mark, based on these words we shall see even applications software reside on the net as we have often heard in the past. You wonder about people saving PR clips? Well, here we'll have to wonder about people saving Office?

When you look at the range of devices we shall all have, it also becomes a bit hard to believe you'll want all those files on a single computer, even assuming you can sort through them and find what you want when you need it.

I believe the goal will be to sit down at any computer anywhere and go to work. Even your desktop preferences may reside on the net. Any machine you use will become like your old favorite.

Regards,

mark
