IBM unveiled today several communication processor chips. It said customers for these chips include Nortel, and Alcatel with chips available in the fourth quarter. IBM also established a Communication Research and Development Center with scientists based in its labs around the world. This was all in the WSJ today. I don't think BRCM will disappear, it just seems to me they are going to have intense competition for 40% of their market where they are seeing their most rapid growth. If their growth rate falls the stock will get hurt.
