Demand for Thin at Sprint PCS.

Justin, I think Q has Thins on allocation to the various wireless carriers who have committed to carry them. Thus, whether demand is out of control or not, there are shortages.

I think that FON offering rebates on the handsets is SOP for the carriers to induce new subscriptions. Selling handsets at cost would deter new signups because of the upfront money. Sprint wouldn't even sell me, as an existing customer, a Thin from its corporate sales office. You had to be a new subscriber. This is part of the market and how the carriers compete, imo.

Btw, disappointed that Walter Mossburg, who is usually very good, did not allude to the web access capabilities of the Thin. But then, perhaps he had no service to which to try it out!

Regards. Steven

The rebates are on all of their phones - across the board. Also, as I understood it, that promotion expired 2 days ago.

Claude (rhymes with TOAD)

p.s. I got the thinphone of course. <g>
