Hi Marvin: Any speculation as to what SUNW paid for the company? Could it have been more than $100 million? I believe Novell paid $400 million for the WordPerfect office suite....could Sunw have paid that much?

At some point, SUNW will have to disclose the price. As far as I can tell, no price was stated.

Actually Microsoft has been giving away Office for a long time - most Dell's have included MS Office free of charge - I recieved it on my Dell i purchased in '96 - i personally havent spent $1 on microsoft software since but from Microsofts perspective i also havnt spent a dollar on Lotus's or Corel's office suite - thereby perpetuating MS's Monopoly - Star Office will have the same effect but Microsoft will be on the receiving end this time.
