I think you're right Pomp. PC133 was the last visible cloud on the horizon and the Bus has weathered that storm without even needing to open it's scuppers (sorry to mix metaphors-maybe I should say turn on its wipers). This IDF is almost history,Intel has been solid in its reiteration of the long term dominance of Rambus, the little RDRAM darlin's are popping up everywhere, the Dramurai are now on the warpath, DELL, CPQ et al are in the trenches, and more than triple the average volume has wanted to buy at prices that to me feel like they've stayed pretty solid. Three months ago when I first got into this I'd have been terrified at the gap down this morning but now I feel like riding out these waves is actually fun-almost like investor windsurfing. I was actually sad to see it bounce back as quickly as it did today because I've got some $ coming free next week that I hoped to buy more with at this a.m.'s prices.

Pomp,

Hey Dave: Don't you get the feeling that even the anti-Rambus arguments from the resident bears have weakened lately? Maybe I am just being Pollyannaish again, but it sure seems like the sceanario for Rambus rollout is now settled, and all the spooky stuff did not happen. Intel is firm in its support and now we just gotta get the price down and ZOOOM.

Let me think about that...

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I consider the comeback at the end of the day a wonderful thing. We may still trade up and down in a range here for a while, but I was concerned the floor would drop today and keep going for a while. It didn't happen. A lot of buyers (including me) stepped up to the plate. If that's the extent of the reaction to the "bad news", then we'll be okay.

I suspect that the Dell comments helped as much as the Intel support. It's one thing to for Intel to say "we're going to build it" (meaning the chipset), it's another thing altogether for Dell to say "we're going to buy it and it'll be half of our DRAM purchases next year."

Now if we can just get the Nasdaq to crash, we'll skyrocket (Naz down, RMBS up <g>).

Dave
