AT&T to retransmit Fox signals on cable system
NEW YORK, Sept 2 (Reuters) - Telephone and cable giant AT&T Corp. (NYSE:T - news) and Fox Entertainment Group (NYSE:FOX - news) said on Thursday they agreed to a deal for AT&T to retransmit the signals of Fox television stations.

Under the deal, which runs through 2009, Fox will allow AT&T Broadband & Internet Services (BIS), the cable operating arm of AT&T, to retransmit the signals of 22 major market Fox stations to AT&T's more than 10 million customers, the companies said in a statement. AT&T will also be allowed to retransmit Fox's digital signals.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

In June, AT&T entered into a similar deal with NBC, a unit of General Electric Co. (NYSE:GE - news), to distribute NBC broadcast, cable and digital services over AT&T's cable network.

Additionally, the companies agreed to work to provide Fox's high-resolution programming to AT&T BIS customers through both traditional TV sets as well as digital TV sets.

In late afternoon trading on the New York Stock Exchange, shares of Fox Entertainment, a unit of News Corp. Ltd. (NYSE:NWS - news), were down 1/16 to $23-5/8 while shares of AT&T were down 3/8 to $46-7/8.
