Mr. George Plewes and Mr. Paul Conroy report
The Canabrava Diamond Corporation/Paramount Ventures & Finance joint
venture is developing alluvial diamond resources on the Rio do Sono River
in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil.
As part of the environmental review process associated with the application
for a mining licence, a public hearing was recently held. At this hearing,
the joint venture's mining plan was presented and it was determined that
the project is of sufficient size and scope to require a full environmental
impact study (EIS) before a full mining licence can be issued. This process
is estimated to take about three months. Exploration and preparatory work
will continue while the EIS is being completed. Further updates will be
issued as soon as new information becomes available.

Yorikke,

Canabrava apparently has in their possession over 2000 alluvial diamonds that they themselves recovered from 32 streams located on the Canabrava Joint Venture Project. Many of these came from the Rio do Sono watershed when they dug holes in the extensive diamond bearing terrace in the North West arm of their claim. So says the 1997 Annual report, and the information that some of these came from Rio do Sono was told to me by by Rory Moore in a conversation I had with him in the spring.

I understand, some contributors on this thread had the pleasure of viewing some of these diamonds during a visit to the CNB head office.
