That depends on the price/performance/scalability ratio of Win 2000/Merced as compared to Solaris/Sparc II/III (Sparc III may be priced out of the ball park altough the performance may be on par) and the Solaris/Merced combo if Sun can make it work. With all of the complaints about NT, Microsoft.com and MSN.com are easily some of the busiest sites on the web running some of the latest technologies (MSFT tech at least:-) and I don't ever remember MSFT going down, despite 1 million 40mb IE4 downloads a day when it was released. Again, think about it.
