Are you familiar with the merger of Republic Bank into Hongkong Shanghai? RNB got slaughtered yesterday on a report of an investigation by a Japanese government agency into fraudualent valuations of an offshore fund managed by a client of RNB's Philly futures clearing biz. RNB was apparently in cahoots with the dishonest manager. RNB is getting 72 in cash in a deal. The deal will be delayed until the Japanese straighten this out. RNB traded down to 63. There is 9 bucks to be made over probably 3 months. RNB's liability is small I think. What does MR. Pink think?
