Forward Industries reports strong sales
WESTBURY, N.Y., Sept 2 (Reuters) - Forward Industries Inc. said Thursday it reported combined sales for the months of July and August 1999 of $5.5 million, up from $1.8 million during last year's corresponding periods and expects rising profits in the fourth quarter.
"The substantially higher sales, which are a result of increased orders from OEM customers, should translate into significantly improved levels of profitability in the fourth quarter ending Sept. 30, 1999," said Jerome Ball, chairman and chief executive officer.

"Based on orders in house, we expect a positive trend in sales to continue, at least for the short-term. We are also very optimistic about our long-term business prospects," he added.

For the first nine months of fiscal 1999, Forward's net sales grew to $11.4 million from $9.3 million in the comparable period of last year.

Forward Industries designs, manufactures and distributes custom carrying case solutions primarily for cellular phones, laptop computers and home medical equipment.

Shares were up 1/16 at 1-7/8 on Thursday.
