Mitec Telecom Plans Sale Of U.K. Facility

MONTREAL -- Mitec Telecom Inc. (T.MTM) said it has received a C$3
million order to provide TDMA Tower Top amplifiers to Nortel Networks
Corp. (NT).

In a news release, the company said shipments are anticipated over the
next two quarters.

Mitec said it has also received a C$1.2 million order to supply CDMA
BTS RF equipment to L.M. Ericsson Telephone Co. (ERICY), which is
expected to be shipped in the second quarter. The company said these
contracts will bring Mitec's backlog to C$16 million of confirmed
shippable orders.

Mitec also said that, in line with its focus on wireless products and to
streamline its European operations, it plans to sell its U.K. facility, which
manufactures Statcom and terrestrial components.

Further details weren't provided.

It also said it plans to invest In Amplix Inc., Montreal, for a 15% stake.
The specific amount it will invest in Amplix wasn't disclosed. Mitec said
Amplix is a private company specializing in the design and development of
wireless and Satcom products. It said the investment will allow for the joint
development of next-generation wireless amplifiers, such as multi-channel
power amplifiers. Mitec noted it also acquired an option to purchase an
additional 34% of Amplix for an undisclosed amount.

Mitec Telecom designs and makes components, subsystems and
multifunction subsystems for the wireless communications industry.
