Teflon,

Not having read the new manual, (but I hope I get points for having tried to buy it) I'm probably way out of line here. But I'll give it a shot.

if DITRs cannot have tornados (since by the authors' definition Internet companies cannot become Gorillas)

In my way of thinking, tornados aren't limited to gorilla games. I think all the symptoms of the bowling alley and the tornado are quite possible in non-gorilla games.

It's important to remember that, according to the first manual, that all gorillas come from tornados but not all tornados produce gorillas. If it's indeed possible to have a tornado without producing a gorilla in a gorilla game, the logical corollary seems to be that there can be tornados in other spaces as well.

Recognizing that I haven't read the manual, v.2, feel free to ignore all of the above.

I believe that there has been a new term added to the book. I took this from an Email from Geoffrey Moore on the GG Digest Listserve. Some of the participants say that a few Internet's qualify.

Godzilla: Market leader in a transaction services market with NO
proprietary architecture BUT WITH some other mechanism for creating
switching costs. This is the subject of the new chapter in the revised Gorilla Game coming out this month.

> if DITRs cannot have tornados<

It seems, thus far in my reading that the new book has quite a bit of new material.

From the new manual, pg. 35:

"As of this writing, Internet access for e-mail and the World Wide Web for browsers are both inside the tornado."
